On our way to Fort Langley, Marcus and I decided to swing by 0th Avenue in Surrey to literally look at the US. It’s probably not an ‘iconic place’ that belongs in league with the Eiffel Tower, but it is ‘cool’ in the sense that the US-Canada border is the longest undefended border in the world. Marcus is the guy in the featured image of this article!
The area is very rural and sparsely populated and the roads are usually empty, so what better to do than acceleration tests on a sporty car?
“Yeah that was cool!” ~ Marcus, after I did 0-50km/h in 3 seconds.
The roads are narrow and a little hilly with a lot of stop signs so don’t go over 50 or 60km/h. What is love? A Mercedes and the open road.
0th Avenue is very straight and stretches for many miles along the linear border. You could, in theory, step off the side of the road and walk into US territory, but that would be illegal immigration, which we definitely did not do. Do visit this amazing piece of border real estate before some idiot president decides to put a wall on it, too.
