Comfort
Air Canada’s B777 has the widest premium economy seats in its fleet at 20 inches. Both my elbows fit snugly between the armrests. The seven inches of recline is more than twice what economy class gets, making it an acceptable sleeping experience. Legroom is comfortable, but some seats have limited legroom as the in-flight entertainment computer intrudes into the footwell.
The smaller footwell, though, was the perfect excuse to put my backpack in the overhead bin, so I could stretch out on the red-eye flight. I managed to sleep a total of two hours, waking up just once in between.

In-flight entertainment
The 10.4-inch touchscreen display can also be controlled via a wired handset, making it easier to play on-screen games. However, the huge recline means the screen can get uncomfortable close to your face. I recommend the bulkhead row.
There is free in-flight texting wit full wifi at an additional cost, which Air Canada promises to make completely free of charge in time.
Food
I had flown on this exact flight on the exact plane six days prior, so I know the breakfast options are exactly identical to business class, as is the wine list. I had Air Canada’s iconic parsley omelette with a turkey sausage and homestyle potatoes. While airlines like Air France make their premium economy a larger seat with economy class amenities, it’s good to see Air Canada offering business class-quality meals in both cabins.
Service
One flight attendant served the full 24-seat premium economy cabin. The two-aisle layout made service less efficient, but I’m grateful I sat on the right aisle so I was served last and was woken up for breakfast last. I didn’t have any alcohol on the flight, just lots of sparkling water.
