Comfort
The 1-2 layout means the throne seats are sublime for solo travelers. But I was the only berspm in business class on this flight, so I got two seats to myself. The adjustable seat back and headrest are comfortable, but it lacks a thigh rest compared to Air Canada’s newer domestic business class product. Each seat gets one large window.
In-flight entertainment
The small, dated screen was very slow to respond and takes experience to work. It’s fine once a movie starts playing and the matte screen helps prevent glare, but it’s a pain to skip ads, play or pause for meal service, and navigate between menus.
There’s one USB-A charging port for mobile devices and each seat has a standard international power outlet. But in my experience with the CRJ, these don’t always work. In-flight wifi was unavailable on this flight.
Food
Bottled water was served upon boarding. The short flight only had a snack, which was served on chinaware with metal cutlery. The tuna tataki salad would have been an appetizer of a three-course meal on a flight two hours or longer. It was delicious and I was offered as much wine and nuts as I wanted.
Service
My review of service on this flight would be biased towards the positive side as I was the only passenger in the premium cabin. While business class on the CRJ doesn’t get dedicated cabin crew, I found the purser to be more than responsive to my needs
