Route: Ottawa to Montreal
Plane: Embraer E175
Date: Jun 7, 2025
Price: Irrelevant, operational upgrade on an overbooked flight
Comfort
Just like the CRJ900, the E175 has 1-2 seating, perfect for solo travellers and they’re wider than in the CRJ. Although it has Air Canada’s old blue seats, but the seats don’t get a lot of use on regional flights, so they didn’t feel tired. The large windows let in plenty of light and are best aligned in the first two rows.
The overhead binds were updated to fit more carryon bags, but one side is narrower than the other on business class to accommodate the offset aisle, so board early in Zone 1 to et space if the flight is full.

In-flight entertainment
The seat-back entertainment system had been decommissioned and replaced with free Wi-Fi for all passengers. Air Canada’s full movie, music and TV show selection was available on personal devices via the Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, the internet connection on my flight didn’t work.
Food
We got the same snacks and drinks as economy class on the short half-hour hop. Not much to report on.
Service
Smaller regional jets don’t get a dedicated business class flight attendant, and the flight was full. This would’ve been a problem if it were a longer flight with meal service.
