If you’ve really got nothing to do in Saxon-Anhalt, Bad Schandau is not a bad place to spend a quiet afternoon. Just an hour away from charming Dresden, it is right on the way to Saxon Switzerland where you can be brought on a winding path into a protected pine forest on the Kirnitzschtalbahn. It is also near the Bastei Bridge, which can be observed from the train on the way into town.
