Brampton is a suburb of Toronto. Its historic centre is around Garden Square, where the Rose Theatre is also located. A little ways from the city centre, the Peel Art Gallery Museum and Archives is a local cultural centre. The regional airport also serves as a hub for the Brampton Flying Club and a hangar for the Great War Flying Museum.

Out in the suburbs of the suburbs, the Pendergast Log House has been moved to the site of the Historic Bovaird House, both listed heritage properties. The Bovaird House was built in 1819 and the Bovairds owned it from 1919 until 1985 when it was sold to the city for two dollars.

Today, the house is a museum of Gregorian revival architecture with 19th century housewares. All the fireplaces and toilets still work, as does the kitchen. Several times a year, a meal can be booked at the house and bread is made in its functional period ovens. The windows were imported from England and the upstairs archive shows maps of the area from when the house was built.

The Pendergast Log House was built in 1845, approved for relocation in 2012 by the city council, and completed its move in 2018. Its recent relocation and use as a tourist destination is the reason why it’s not on many travel guides. Log houses were intended as temporary housing for early settlers.
