It’s free. I don’t care if you’re not interested in history. It’s free, so you should go. It’s next to the Albright-Knox Art Gallery so it’s not even out of the way. Go.
The upstairs gallery does a great job putting American history in context of Buffalo. From wooly mammoths and early European exploration to American trade policy of the 19th century and racial segregation, Buffalo has experienced most iconic moments, too. The other side of the upstairs area is sports, and sports is bleh.
The lower level has a space on pioneer life. If you’ve been following my travels for a while, you’ll know that I’m a big fan of museums arranging artifacts in context. Here, I liked looking at parts of a recreated pioneer house. There’s also a little model railway of early 20th century America.
It’s nice.
