Just weeks before I visited New York City, I watched Home Alone 2 with a few friends and wanted to go to Central Park for a second visit just to see where they shot the movie. It’s always a lot more fun to visit locations when you can recognise certain locations from popular culture be it scenes from a movie or from lines of music.
Winter in Central Park is a whole different affair from summer. First of all, the trees are naked and the grass turns slightly brown. Then, you have city kids playing in piles of dirty snow. But best of all, the sun is at a lower angle so the buildings shimmer in a golden glow for much longer, allowing visitors to admire the city in its best hour.
My favourite spot in the park is the merry go round. Grab a cup of coffee from a coffee stand and I could sit there staring at the park while listening to the joyous laughter of families nearby. It’s always uplifting to see other people being happy.
