The Arch City earned its nickname from the iconic arches of High Street illuminating the business bustling on both sides of the street. Columbus is a welcome break from to monotony of driving on American highways and the one fifth mark of crossing the continent from east to west.

Driving into Columbus and seeing those high-rise buildings made me feel comfortable that there would be other people to at least look at. The city is the state capital of Ohio and the Ohio State House is the centrepiece of the downtown area. It is surrounded by upscale hotels, theatres, and state offices.

Although this city was named after Italian explorer Christopher Columbus, it has a rather large Irish and German population. It’s variety of food is also as diverse as its population and history, I enjoyed a delicious cheese steak sandwich in the trendy Short North district in a well-decorated restaurant. More food options are available downtown at the North Market until 7pm most days.
