Crossing from the canton of Luzern to the canton of Bern, the Glaubenbielenpass is also known as the Panoramastrasse for its stunning views of snowy slopes and glistening lakes. At the top, the sign says that it is over 1,600 meters above sea level, but you can go even higher by walking a little ways uphill from the visitor’s parking lot.

It goes from the UNESCO Biosphere in Entlebuch over the side of the Rothorn and down to the Brünigpass with its famous triple loop tunnel that leads down to Brienz. From Brienz, you’re just a 20-minute drive away from the land of holidays – Interlaken. The Glaubenbielenpass was built for nature-lovers with lakes, mountains, snow, valleys, and different geographical features all packed into a half/hour drive.

The road is very narrow at many points, but locals are generally practiced enough to let you through without a problem. The curves go from visible and predictable up the northern end and evolve into dangerously narrow and steep serpentine turns on the south the face of the mountain. If you really want to have fun, it is possible to do some of the corners at 70 km/h without spinning off the edge of the cliff.
