The only reason I visited Green River was for a cheap room on the way to Salt Lake City. What I didn’t prepare for was a snowstorm in May. In the morning, the hotel clerk lent me her snow brush so I could clear off my windshield and be on my way, my Finnish tires performed well, and the roads were cleared overnight.

But the photos I had hoped would show hot red rocks instead showed an icy landscape, I couldn’t go down to Flaming Gorge anymore, and which trails I could access depended on how bold I was with my off-roading capabilities. What looked like a hot, dry wilderness the previous day was suddenly covered in a fluff of white powder. Strange sight. I was told it could even snow in July.

Still, I managed to get myself to Scotts Bottoms without too much of an issue with the car and got some pretty nice shots with zoom lenses. I’m sure I would’ve spent more time there if the weather was more cooperative.
