The Jaunpass plays tricks on both sides of the mountain range. On the western approach to the pass, there’s a little village road that leads up to the actual pass, but you’d be fooled to think that the access pass is the actual Jaunpass because it’s so much fun to drive. Down the eastern end, there’s a Shell gas station where you’ll realise that the nearest access to a highway is to drive back over the pass a second time.
At its peak, the pass reaches over 1500 meters above sea level and is in the snow even well into spring. You’ll meet many other motor heads at the carpark at the top and along the way. But if you really want a spot at all the nice photo spots you’ll have to go early to snatch a parking spot at one of the lay-bys before the motorcycles take over.
Difficulty: 2/5, paved with two separate lanes, but tricky turns
