The last time I was in Las Vegas was when I was four, so I don’t really have any photos of my own. The picture on the left is a royalty free picture for commercial use I found on PixBay.
I distinctly remember this being my second holiday ever (the first one was to Sydney when I was 3), the dazzling lights, foreign flavours, and noisy casinos. My image of America from my 4th to 19th birthdays was one of wonderment and surprise, thanks to Sin City, Hollywood, and GTA San Andreas.
Being on a helicopter for the first time was one of my earliest memories abroad. My father ushered mother and I onto a long, black stretch limo that drove us to the helipad. A noisy chopper ferried us to the Grand Canyon and we had a picnic right near the edge. I remember mother giving me a banana to eat, knowing that I had constipation when I traveled abroad. I wasn’t hungry so I only had half a banana and guess what – I was constipated that night.
I had the chance of a lifetime to look over the edge of the canyon, father allowed me to do it despite mother’s protests. Looking back, it wasn’t very wise for a four-year-old me to do something like that! Father had a bottle of champagne and he gave me the cork after opening it. The helicopter pilot drew a smiley face on the bottom of the cork and I still have it to this day. Apart from the incredible day at the Grand Canyon, everything else is just a blur.
