The township of Mono is a trapezoid-shaped administrative division in Dufferin County about 40 km northwest of Toronto. If you zoom in on Mono in Google Maps you’ll quickly realize that it has no significant population clusters. The nearest town, Orangeville, looks like it was carved out of Mono because the southwestern corner of the township is shaped around its perimeter.

Mono Cliffs Provincial Park is in the northern half of the township. Jacob’s Ladder is a series a steps that takes hikers through a crack in the rocks and up onto the top of the hills to a breathtaking view on the Lookout Trail.

I had the benefit of going to the area with an experienced local who knew the area well. She also knew the locals, so I got access to the falls via a private property and could park very close to the water. I had a nice picnic with a family with a dog and called it a day.
