Art is a powerful medium when paired with education on interracial interactions in America. The misrepresentations of black people through centuries of slavery and oppression, the assumed nonresistance of black women, and the lack of recognition for black contributions to the world.
There aren’t a lot of exhibits I want to share from this museum. There are two things I don’t take photographs of: human suffering and naked children. But one caveat: if it comes to be my job as the witness of human suffering to record it so the perpetuates cannot deny their atrocities, I will photograph that.
