Before WWII, the Justizpalast in Nürnberg was used as a state-level court. After the war, it was the only courthouse in Germany that was still standing and large enough to accommodate the trials of war criminals. For years after the war, Axis war criminals were tried, imprisoned, and hung from the Palace of Justice.
Although the building is still used as an active courthouse, one of the levels feature an exhibition on the Nürnberg trials with video displays available inside the courtroom where the war criminals were tried. A perfect historical accompaniment to the Nazi rally grounds just across town.
