While it may look insignificant on a map as a passover station for long-distance trains, Nyon prides itself on its Roman heritage. With an amphitheatre and the ruins of an old church thousands of years old, it’s fair to say that this old town has a bit of history.

I could only assume that this was a historically important city as it had museums on both ancient Roman history and recent history of Lake Geneva. Apart from ancient history, Nyon also has medieval history with the Prangins Castle and the Nyon Castle. Nyon joins Rolle, Morges and Veytaux in the Lake Geneva castle club.

Apart from educational visits to historical monuments, you can take a stroll down its pedestrianised main street for a McDonalds or a Burger King meal and shop until n6:30pm on weekdays.
