Admission is by donation, but I’d rather buy something from the gift shop than give a non tax deductible donation to the museum. Home to the largest T-rex in the world, the Royal Saskatchewan Museum in Regina is one of the best natural history museums in the country. My theory is that with nothing but the natural environment, this is the one thing the province excels at. This and potash salar ponds.

The galleries upstairs are taxidermied animals in painted dioramas. I like that the animals are placed in context without a glass box to help visitors understand where and how they live in relation to their environment. The self-guided tour is mostly arranged by geography from north to south. I think this section of the museum missed the opportunity to put up an excellent Arctic diorama as a frontier province.
The lower level is where all the good dinosaur stuff is. The museum has the largest and smaller T-rex specimen in the world as well as the head of the famous Triceratops. To make things Canadian, a specimen of Edmontosaurus Saskatchewansis is also on display. I’ve seen a lot of dinosaurs in my life and it’s been a long time since I have enjoyed myself in a natural history museum.
