Now called the Willis Tower, the department store giant Sears once owned this Chicago landmark. The stepped-back upper floors were designed to yield a maximum window-to-floor ratio to make it attractive for tenants. Not having a gallery on the architectural ingenuity of the architecture of the tower is a missed opportunity.
The 103-floor high Skydeck is America’s highest observation deck and service is excellent compared to 360 Chicago at the top of the John Hancock Center. However, management is just as terrible. The glass is tinted and dirty making it impossible to take colour-accurate photos, there are spiderwebs outside the window, the west face of the observation deck is fenced off, and the souvenirs are of poor quality.
