The Seattle Monorail is just under a mile long and probably one of the world’s shortest urban railway lines. It was built to shuttle passengers between downtown Seattle and the Space Needle, which was the site of the 1962 World’s Fair.

The two trains, called the Red Train and the Blue Train for their livery, were constructed in 1962 and still run daily trips today. The first trains of the day don’t run until 11am so they’re mainly for tourists and don’t serve as useful local public transportation.

The ride is quite bumpy, but it is the fastest way to get to the Chihuly Garden and Glass.
