This place in Chicago is 100% for children and amateur biologists. They have everything from tiny Nemo clownfish of the coral reef to dolphins of the Pacific. It’s not just fish, they also have spiders, frogs, cousins of alligators, and other animals that live near or around water.
The special exhibit on the rainbow of the ocean with colorful fish swimming around lively coral reefs was excellently curated. You can also touch otters and starfish at designated stations or watch a show with dolphins and beluga whales.
There are a lot of kids on the weekends and it can be loud and disorienting. My top tip would be to show up just as it opens and begin at the bottom level where people haven’t made it yet. I wonder: are the fish happy to be in captivity?
