The Springfield Museums system has five museums on site and you can access all of them with a single ticket, which manifests itself as a wristband. In order of interest, they are the Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum (timed entry), Smith Art Museum, D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts, Wood Museum of Springfield History, and the Springfield Science Museum.
Taxidermied animals, microscopes on rocks, dinosaur bones, and space suits. More of a cross between natural history and science with a lot of space dedicated to Africa and Native Americans. I found it perverse to see Native American history placed adjacent to the taxidermied animals gallery, they are human beings and deserve a place in the history museum rather than the science museum. Maybe this is the reason why all the other museums in the Springfield Museums system have title sponsors, but not the science museum.
The science museum is the only one out of five museums to share a building with the ticketing office and the gift shop. It is also the least interesting of the five museums unless you’re under age 12 and fascinated by interactive exhibits on Newton’s laws of motion, so I suggest you see this one last.
