Idyllic community of Northridge

Woah! Is this place even supposed to exist!? This place is absolutely stunning! After I posted a trip idea onto our little class discussion page in the Vancouver Summer Program, the four of us fellow anthropology classmates got in a Mercedes and we sped away to Squamish! Well, I sped us away to Squamish on the stunning Sea-to-Sky highway 99 at a breathtaking pace. The GPS said it’d take us an hour to get there from Vancouver, but it only took us 45 minutes.

We made our first stop at the Northridge residential area and stopped by a public parking lot. Then, we hiked a short way up to the Smoke Bluffs Trail and turned up for a seat at the iconic Viewpoint Trail Bench. Apparently, the smooth face of the mountain is a very popular spot for rock climbing and there were plenty of hikers up there. Unfortunately for us, it started raining and we had to go down before we got too wet.

We then visited the Squamish Native Art Store just before it closed and I purchased an indigenous dreamcatcher to hang in my room. The shopkeeper told me that he got better dreams recently, but not because he got a dreamcatcher…
