Perhaps the smallest museum in Toronto, but not the least interesting (that award goes to the Toronto Police Museum). The Toronto Railway Museum makes its home in a railroad roundhouse shared with restaurants and bars. The roundhouse used to serve nearby Union Station, it’s an excellent example of adaptive reuse into public space while maintaining the character of its industrial past.

The tiny museums make efficient use of their space. A railway carriage serves as an exhibition gallery and model trains are used to show what each carriage contains on a transcontinental line. I was interested in the regional GO Transit containing information on buses that complement rail service. Perhaps there’s an opportunity to expand into a transportation museum.
