Yale ranks as one of the world’s most prestigious universities and is the third oldest in the US. Founded in 1701 in New Haven, the Ivy League private institution is one of the most well-endowed in the world and it shows through its impressive museum collection in its art museum and huge library collection.

The campus is such an integral part of the New Haven cityscape that it’s hard to tell where education ends and commerce begins. Many of its Old Campus buildings are in a magnificent gothic revival, geometric Georgian, or imposing Greek revival architecture, matching some of the city’s older civic buildings. Yale was the first university to have a campus police in 1894.
