I didn’t have high hopes for seeing fine works of art in Edmonton other than the obligatory Group of Seven and some other landscapes from the Rocky Mountains. I was right. What I didn’t expect was for the art to attack more than my sight.

The scent gallery exploits one of the most primitive human senses for the artists to share their most intimate memories with visitors. I could recognize people, discover new places, and feel environments I had never been to before. I wonder if there will ever be an art gallery that uses all five senses to transport visitors to a moment in time.
Wine and cheese have already used taste to capture geology and time, videography does the same to sight and sound. Now, all we need is a way to add physical items and chemical perfumes into the display.
