Some cities like Neuchâtel have a castle, but the Stockalper Schloss has a city. Most well known for its quadrilateral castle, Brig is actually an urban agglomeration of Naters and Glis. The Stockalper Schloss can be visited for free, but the hourly guided tours cost a few Francs and are in German only.

If you want to visit the castle, be sure to take bus number 3 from the train station so you can avoid the 15-minute uphill climb that gains nearly 40 meters in elevation. Walking down is always easier. After visiting the historic castle, still down to the Dorfplatz where locals buy clothes and drink beer to relax for the afternoon.

Other spots to see include the Kollegiumskirche where you can catch a breathtaking view of the valley from its podium. The Kolster St. Ursula has a road running through it as the town’s oddity, and the Sebastianskapelle is a 17th century church that looks in place.
