I’ve been told that Mont Tremblant is an upscale ski resort – or the Whistler of the east. While the actual village of Mont Tremblant is on Lac Mercier, the tourist section is about two kilometres north on Lac Tremblant with easy access to the slopes on a system of ski lifts.

Ice skating, snowshoeing, and skateboarding are also possible in the area. The tourist village resembles Santa’s Village. I’m not sure what one would look like if it actually existed, but Mont Tremblant is probably pretty close. It has faux European architecture and Americanisms of European cuisine with AC/DC and Elvis Presley blasting on speakers in the background.

One of the restaurants are called “Chamonix”, probably paying homage to the nearby Mont Blanc ski resort named after the one in transalpine France just 40 minutes away from Geneva, Switzerland. It can name itself whatever it likes, but it’s no match to the ski resorts of Switzerland such as the legendary Saas Fee where the Last Christmas music video was filmed by Wham!
