Being one of the smallest nations on Earth, Liechtenstein has to find its niche to stand out among its larger neighbours. To the rest of the world, this quirky little country is known for its detailed stamps and tiny capital city, but to Switzerland, this is where the rich and wealthy stash their cash.
The capital city Vaduz is where the Prince of Liechtenstein lives, it is quite a small castle but it commands a stunning view of the valley below. Down in the city, there is an art museum, a postal museum, and a tourist information centre that doubles as a souvenir shop.
It’s probably worth a look around for a few hours but I wouldn’t stay overnight. Many Swiss people think of it as another Swiss canton as it uses the Swiss franc, speaks Swiss-German, and is in the Swiss customs union. They also use Swiss phone extensions and Swiss postal codes.
