Just another day in the classroom

This page may seem out of touch with the rest of the site, but it is homework for my journalism course so here we go…

“You can say ‘I have to do this blog because my annoying journalism professor told me to’ that’s completely okay.” ~ the journalism professor.

I joined the Vancouver Summer Program in the summer of 2018 to go home” and discover more about where I’m from and to get a fresh perspective. I love to write prose, poetry, novellas, and log my experiences so I thought it might be nice to discover what journalism is like as an academic subject.

As a largely lazy person who likes to complain about everything, I figured that being a columnist or composing opinion articles might me a little more suitable for me. Rushing around to get interviews and investigations done in a compressed time scale just seems too stressful for the lifestyle I’m seeking. Don’t get me wrong, I’m fine with a deadline, but don’t expect me to work overnight on a story unless it’s as big as the Red Scare during McCarthyism.

About the author:

Jonathan was born in Canada, raised in Hong Kong and Shanghai, and was in Germany pursuing his studies. Having worked in factories, offices, and ran online shops, he thinks journalism might be the right career path for him and he can’t wait for what the future has in store for him. There is one thing he knows for sure – his passion for travelling and seeing the world through living the lives of locals.
