I may not understand music (Victoria Hall) or art, but as a business school student I do know what branding is. I feel that many foreign visitors to Art Basel are just as clueless as I am to art, but come because of the name. “Art Basel”, with instalments in Hong Kong and Miami is a valuable global brand name.
Among the exhibiting galleries and artists are pieces that use creative materials and techniques to appeal to our increasingly demanding sensory abilities. The two-storey exhibition centre features an open atrium in the centre that serves overprices food and drink to tired visitors.
Personally, I’m a fan of the old masters like Rubens and Cranach. That’s why I think my domain of art rests in the galleries of Dresden and Vienna.
