Dude, I love this place! It’s my spiritual home in Germany, I used to visit once a month just to get my fix of beer, weißwurst, and history. A shoutout to my friend Michael for letting me crash at his loft several times and to Timo for treating me to drinks in the rooftop bar in Studentenstadt, he let me in even though I wasn’t even a student in Munich! I’m proud to have just as many friends in Munich as I do in Berlin.

Bavarian Motor Works
Michael loved to make fun of my Ossi accent, he said that his father had certain prejudices against those with an Eastern German accent. Can’t help it, being a Berliner is part of me now, I guess I’ll just have to live with the consequences of learning most of my German from the streets. My friends in America and Hong Kong would ask me how my German was, to which I would answer:
“I was ridiculed not for the foreignness of my accent, but the Germanness of my accent.”

Sankt Pauli Kirche…I think.
There’s so much to see and do in Munich I never ran out of good things to do. There were so many churches, the Frauenkirche with the domed towers, the St. Pauli Kirche with the gabled roof, I lost track of them all. Apologies for misidentifying them. Then there’s the amazing Bavarian National Museum and Deutches Museum to learn more about German history and engineering.
If you have enough time, don’t miss the picturesque Neuschwanstein and Hochenschwangau Castles, the former of which inspired Disney’s sleeping beauty castle. If you’re in season, remember to catch Oktoberfest.
