It is quite expensive, but there is a reason to it…Saas Fee is a natural theme park. At 3,456 meters above sea level, the summit of Mittelallalin gives a “Christmas touch” to that winter magic. When you arrive, a well-organised ground crew of teenagers direct you to empty parking spots quickly and efficiently to minimise time spent searching for open gaps.
A shuttle bus will take you from the parking garage to the gondola, but the walk is also quite nice. On the way up on the gondola, you’ll see the valley where the music video for Last Christmas was filmed. The gondola only goes up halfway, where you have to change onto a second gondola before you get anywhere near the top.

When to gondola ends, hop onto the Metro Alpin – the highest underground train in the world. At the end of the line you’ll have reached over 3,400 meters above sea level and just a few steps away from the world’s highest revolving restaurant. Though it is the highest, I maintain that the food on the second highest one – the Schilthorn is still better.
