Without a doubt, the Kloster Disentis is the largest and oldest monastery in the valley dating back all the way to the early 8th century. The church itself was built during the Baroque era and shares many architectural features with the Abbey of St. Gallen.

To get there, you can either drive on the incredible Oberalppass in summer or use the Lukmanierpass in winter that goes through three linguistic regions. If you’re not staying anywhere near the region, plan it as a day trip as the road is very twisty and the trains are very slow through the valley.

In the centre of town, the Sogn Gions is the main church with an adjacent open space. Next to that grassy area stands the Cristallina, a museum on the earth’s minerals. The train station is also somewhat of an attraction as it is on the outside of town facing the valley, so everyone can access the great view.
